week 4 -- Mind Map of Myself

This is the mind map i draw to briefly discribe myself.

week4-- mind mapping

this week study is about creative thinking with mind mapping technique. creative thinking can be classified into 2 categories, diverging (brainstorming and looking for alternative) -expanding the play field, and converging (thinking all the information and possibilities and turn it to a solution) - narrowing the play field. most people possess only 1 type of creative thinking but not both. psychologist state that a person with high IQ doesn't mean that he is a creative person.http://www.google.com.my/imglanding?q=mind%20mapping&imgurl=http://resourcebank.sitc.co.uk/

We also learn that mind mapping improve creativity and for easy recall, show keywords, save time, concentrate real issue, generate and brainstorming ideas. Creative thinking can be separated into logical mind mapping ( stereotypes- put words and image directly related to the central subject through links) and associated mind mapping ( generate random words and links that have no connection).

By the definition above, i also learn that how people can be categories into a stereotype person. that is when a person have a public belief about specific social group or type of individual. they conventional, formulaic, over simplified the conception, opinion or images.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvJoc8oEays

this video show how designers design an object to attract viewers attention. this not only important to make profit to the company, but also to make life much more colorful.

week3 --Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

This week class was about Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention. the teacher told us that, a creative person generate new ideas while creative process is how new idea, solution and invention are produced.
In order to be creative, we have to think differently and uniquely from the rest. until now, creative and creativity does not have a definite meaning and definition. creative exist unconsciously through personal, social and cultural boundary.

Beside that, we also learned to define novelty. Novelty is a creation that has to be new, have objective and dimension. it's subjective is, appreciation of something as being new by individual. while its objective is to create something new to all humanity in its development through age.

Through this week lesson, i finally be able to differentiate inventor and innovator. inventor are people who take existing knowledge and create new ideas while innovator are people making improvement toward a product. innovator also make good deal in user- learning, often make change to new behavior patterns. a good design must be purposeful, useful and satisfied customers expectation.(Inventor-Thomas Edison)

We also learn new terms, Aesthetic Organizers. this term can be classified into 3 parts, Boundary Pusher(people that use existing ideas ans push it a little further), Inventors (people that use existing ideas and create something new), and the rarest group, Boundary Breakers, who produce something that human never imagine before.

week2 experience

in my last semester, we were taught to use collage to improve the drawing by famous artist. this taught us to be creative in changing the picture with a set of idea in mind and make the picture look nice even though it is combining pieces of paper

before
after

although it seem easy by our teacher explanation, but when we really get into work, we found out that different layers and composition of the object did alot of different to the picture. this taught me to enhance picture the picture with different material but still maintaining its beauty.

week2 exercise

This is my roommate and classmate as well, her name is Wong Yi Vonn. She is an active and outgoing person and very playful to be around. So, that is the reason why i manipulate her to be on a beach and place her into a book to put as a memory.

week2-- Define creativity

this week class was about how to be creative. we had seen through dozen of movies on how martial art people use ordinary object as a weapon instead of something sharp. this taught us to think out of the box for a situation. the teacher also asked us :" is creative and fun comes together?" this spark debate among the student as some agree while the rest differ. as to me, i think that it depands on our attitude towards the situation.http://ticklebooth.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/09/ladder-fight.jpg

creative arts is very new in our country and it is unavoidable that people have myth on this field. people usually thought creative is born out of talent while it actually can be taught through learning and inventing something is the only thing that is called creative. creative can be actually innovating or enhancing the product to make life better. this makes people view things in a new way or in a whole different perspective and generate new possibility and alternative in future.

week1 experience

In our daily life, if you are living in a society that is without creativity, things will get boring and people will tend to become lazy. but, with creative idea, people will have the intention to try out new things out of curiosity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lXh2n0aPyw

through this video i watched in Facebook, i learn that with interesting idea, people will have more eager to use the product and make life more colorful.

week1-- The introduction

this week was the 1st week of semester 2 and we had our very 1st creative study class.

one of the weirdest question our teacher asked us during our 1st class was :" are u using your brain to think right now." at 1st i thought this is a stupid question. WHO on earth do things without thinking. the teacher, however, gave us several examples and experiments, only then i realize, there is a thing call spontaneous reaction. we speak or answer without really process the question through our brain asked by an individual.

the teacher then told us what is the different between creative and creativity. it is no use to be creative without creativity. it is the process of improving our creativity throughout our work rather than the general idea at the
beginning only.

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z314/hoaihuong123/brainstorming.jpg

our teacher force us to work our project in a group in order to create teamwork. this is important for us to generate more idea among group members. although members might steal our ideas in the process, that is why we need to have more idea instead of 1 idea 1 project. we need to be ahead of the other competitive in order to survive in the society now.
